NMI Educational Bursary Programme

The NMI Educational Bursary Programme offers the opportunity to receive funding towards continuing professional development (CPD) for eligible healthcare professionals including conferences, courses and membership.

Championing the future of nutritional medicine

We offer an educational bursary for health providers practicing nutritional medicine, an annual initiative designed to support and inspire continuing professional development.

The bursary programme is aimed at easing the financial challenges of professional education and helping health providers gain access to learning that is intended to improve clinical care.

Who is eligible?

To apply, you must be a qualified healthcare professional in at least one of the following areas:

  • Dietitian
  • Medical Doctor
  • Nutritionist
  • Nutritional Therapist

Because this bursary is designed to support health providers in clinical practice and features continuing professional development (CPD), students without a previous relevant qualification are not eligible.

What bursaries are available?

Bursary opportunities are announced across the year in our monthly newsletter and on social media. The bursary application form specifies current availability.

How are applications assessed?

We grade and award applications based on impact to an individual’s clinical practice and community.

  • commitment to professional development
  • potential impact on patient care
  • how the learning will be applied in practice
  • the applicant’s motivation
  • accessibility and supporting under-served communities

Bursary sponsorship

We sometimes partner with select sponsors to make high-quality education accessible to a broader audience. In the case that a corporate sponsor or other benefactor has financially supported a bursary, this is made clear in the application process. Bursary applicants and award recipient details are not shared with sponsors or any third party.

Can I apply for multiple bursaries?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of different bursaries you can apply for. However, each individual bursary is limited to one award per applicant.

Can previous recipients apply?

Yes. Previous bursary recipients are welcome to apply.

What happens if I can’t attend?

If you are unable to attend, please let us know. Live events are generally recorded or live-streamed to accommodate different schedules and support remote participation. Online event recordings can be watched in your own time and do not need to be attended live.

Will unsuccessful applicants receive feedback?

No. We are unable to provide personalised feedback on individual applications. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application.
