Advancing the science and practice of nutritional medicine
The Nutritional Medicine Institute (NMI) is an education, research and advocacy organisation dedicated to advancing the science and clinical practice of nutritional medicine.
Our aim is to increase awareness of the fundamental role of diet and nutrition in health and disease, while supporting the translation of scientific evidence into clinical practice. We promote evidence-informed approaches to personalised nutrition and lifestyle medicine, including dietary interventions and the appropriate use of nutritional supplements.
Leaders in continuing professional education
High-quality, engaging and clinically relevant education is at the heart of what we do. NMI provides a range of in-person and online learning opportunities for health professionals, including the annual NMI Summit, specialist conferences, webinars and courses.
Our educational programmes and events are independently certified and accredited for continuing professional development (CPD), providing health professionals with education that meets recognised standards while remaining relevant to contemporary clinical practice.
An inspiring annual summit
The annual NMI Summit brings together health professionals, researchers, clinicians and industry from around the world to explore advances in personalised nutrition and lifestyle medicine.
The Summit provides a unique opportunity to learn from internationally recognised experts, connect with colleagues and engage with organisations working at the forefront of the field. Our speakers include leading scientists and clinicians whose research has contributed to how we understand and apply personalised nutrition in healthcare.
Cutting-edge science that informs clinical practice
The science of personalised nutrition and lifestyle medicine is rapidly evolving, creating new opportunities to improve patient care. NMI works with leading researchers and clinicians to examine emerging evidence and translate important developments into practical insights for health professionals.
We contribute to peer-reviewed scientific publications and provide research commentary, expert interviews and educational resources designed to help clinicians critically evaluate new evidence and consider its relevance to clinical practice.
Improving access to professional education
We believe high-quality professional education should be accessible to clinicians who are committed to developing their knowledge and practice. Our educational bursary and scholarship programmes are designed to help reduce financial barriers to continuing professional development.
The NMI Educational Bursary Programme provides eligible health professionals with funding towards selected CPD opportunities, including conferences, courses and professional membership. NMI also works in partnership with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) to provide scholarship opportunities supporting professional education and certification in functional medicine.
